Sales pros: you can create or destroy your own confidence.
Since confidence is so important and for many sales pros so elusive let’s dive in and see where it comes from exactly and how you can get more of it. For that let me tell you a story about a Dr. from 1965.
In 1965 Dr. Aaron Beck from the University of Pennsylvania discovered that thoughts cause feelings.
Let that sink in, ponder what it means. Thoughts cause feelings.
With that discovery he created a new form of therapy called Cognitive Therapy that today is the most popular form of therapy in the world because it works.
What it means to the sale pro is that what you think determines how you feel.
Who decides what thought you think? You do.
You always decide what you think.
You are 100% responsible for what you think and therefore how you feel.
Look above. Sales pros are free to think any way they want. Weak thoughts or strong thoughts.
And as you think so you will feel.
Confidence is a feeling.
Therefore the feeling of confidence is created by your thoughts. If your thoughts are weak, you’ll feel weak. If your thoughts and beliefs are confident you’ll feel confident. Simple as that.
Who decides what you think? Hello!
As a sales pro we need more confidence. Every day we have to pick up the phone call a stranger and face victory or rejection.
The more confidence you have the easier your job will be, the more money you will make and you’ll be happier.
Key takeaways:
1. Thoughts cause feelings
2. You decide what you will think / you are 100% responsible
3. If you think weak thoughts you’ll feel weak
Sales training expert tip: think confident thoughts.
